We bring you a lot of stories every single day. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up. So in case you missed anything from our feed, we have rounded up all our stories in one place to get the news at a glance. Here is your Daily Recap for Monday, January 11, 2021.
Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- While construction inside the TRON Lightcycle / Run show building has come to a halt, the framework of the ride’s illuminated canopy is almost complete
- We came out to Magic Kingdom on the coldest day of the year — so far — here in Orlando, making this Kingdom feel a bit more like Arendelle than Florida, but nothing can stop us from bringing you all that’s new and cool in our most recent photo report
EPCOT
- The construction walls at the entrance to the France Pavilion expansion in EPCOT are gone and replaced with a row of rolling planters—a sign that we’re one step closer to walking down the boulevard and taking a ride aboard Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
- It’s almost time to mangiare on some delicious gelato at the Italy Pavilion in EPCOT because a new quick service dining location named La Gelateria is destined for the pavilion, led by the Patina Restaurant Group
- After apparently fixing the dead pixels on the massive Harmonious barge currently sitting in World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT, Disney is now testing the barge’s screens
- The Donald Duck audio-animatronic is completely gone from Gran Fiesta Tour at EPCOT, and now his sombrero shrine has been removed too
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort will have limited availability from April 2021 through September 2021 as rooms are refurbished
Other Walt Disney World News
- Since the start of Walt Disney World’s phased reopening, Extra Magic Hours have been suspended due to restricted hours during the COVID-19 pandemic but it seems this resort guest benefit won’t be coming back at all—at least not in its previous form, as “Resort Guest Early Entry” will soon be replacing Extra Magic Hours at Walt Disney World
- Disney’s Magical Express service, which provides guests with transportation between Orlando International Airport and the Walt Disney World, will be ending in 2022
- Later in the day, the Disney’s Magical Express service operator, Mears Transportation, issued a statement regarding the suspension of the service
Tokyo Disney Resort
- With Tokyo Disney Resort drastically reducing park capacity to 5000 Guests per day at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea amid the new State of Emergency in the Tokyo area, the Oriental Land Company has announced that 25 dining outlets across both parks will temporarily re-close due to the low capacity
- We dropped in to check on Fantasy Springs, the exciting and massive expansion at Tokyo DisneySea opening in 2023, and the most exciting thing we spotted this time is that some framework for mountains around the Peter Pan and Frozen areas have gone up
New Merchandise
- Tokyo Disney Resort loves its small mystery boxes, with special sets themed to anything from special events like the New Fantasyland grand opening to attraction posters to popcorn cart cranks, and the latest addition to this family is a new set dedicated to characters from Tokyo Disneyland’s Critter Country area
- Walt Disney World has a new Marvel backpack by Loungefly perfect for anyone who doesn’t have a favorite superhero but still wants to proclaim their love for the comics and movies
- A new 2021 Twilight Zone Tower of Terror pressed penny is now available at Oscar’s Super Service in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and shopDisney has a new The Lion King MagicBand to celebrate the occasion
- If your young one is a fan of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, they can show it with a brand new collection of youth apparel now available at the Disneyland Resort
- Just in case you didn’t get enough new cups over the holidays, a few new mugs and tumblers have arrived in the Downtown Disney District featuring The Enchanted Tiki Room and several Pixar friends
- If your love of Disney expands beyond the occasional Mickey sweatshirt, then you’ll love these new Beauty and the Beast home goods and kitchen accessories that just arrived at Disneyland Resort
- Walt Disney World is not the only Disney entity celebrating a milestone anniversary in 2021 — Disney Vacation Club turns 30 this year and to commemorate the occasion, shopDisney is offering a 30th anniversary Disney Vacation Club collection with items including magnets, phone cases, and shirts
- The Sorcerer Mickey ear headband that first arrived at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort in November is now available on shopDisney for anyone to purchase
- Love is in the air as we approach Valentine’s Day next month and to celebrate, Walt Disney World and Loungefly have released a new mini-backpack featuring Stitch and Angel
Entertainment and Media
- It’s official: Deadpool 3 will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and yes, it will still be R-rated
