Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- The first actual decoration for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary has been hung on Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom
- The Main Street Confectionery is closing on March 29 for an extended refurbishment and The Main Street Cinema will be transformed into a temporary treat shop while the Confectionery is closed, and to keep the art and collectibles of The Art of Disney from the Cinema available, many of those items will be temporarily sold at Bonjour! Village Gifts in Fantasyland starting March 22nd
- Since it was announced in late February that the refurbishment of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover at Magic Kingdom was extended until April, we haven’t seen the attraction moving very much but today, we saw Cast Members pushing the cars and then the cars running under their own power, with audio playing at the hub of the ride
EPCOT
- A brand new Blood Orange Beet Cocktail arrived today as part of the rotating menu at Farmers Feast, a brand new booth at this year’s Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival
- The Nine Dragons restaurant has yet to reopen after the park’s closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the inside is now being used as additional seating for the adjoining quick service restaurant, Lotus Blossom Café
- The demolition of Innoventions West has been going on for quite some time and the construction progress is making great strides, as the area is now left with just a few remaining pieces of metal framing
- Yesterday, we saw more wood paneling being added to the façade of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT and now blue synthetic underlayment is being laid over the wood to protect it from the weather
- The House of Good Fortune in the China pavilion is a massive store with an incredible amount of merchandise and recently, the covered, outdoor portion of the store finally returned, albeit modified
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- We can now confirm that Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort will reopen as scheduled on March 22, 2021 and the resort’s offerings and experiences web page has been updated to show what will be available to guests
- The Walt Disney World Resort is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with festive new treats, and we feel pretty lucky to be trying this Irish stout Bundt cake at The Artist’s Palette
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa has been under major refurbishment for years now, with rooms being remodeled and now the main building getting a new coat of paint
Other Walt Disney World News
- As promised when Disney announced the demise of complimentary MagicBands for resort hotel guests, Disney will soon be debuting a new option for theme park entry and more: Disney MagicMobile service
- Brightline has revealed a detailed explanation of the costs of its new rail connecting Disney Springs to the Orlando International Airport and between the two possible routes, Brightline is leaning towards the $1.03 billion option, which would run parallel to state road 417
Disneyland Resort
- Preparations for the late April reopening of Disneyland Resort are underway and part of the work taking place today is the construction of a fence around Disneyland Hotel which will effectively create a bubble around the property
- To celebrate spring and Easter, Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort will be hosting a new Eggstravaganza scavenger hunt, as well as Spring snacks, brunch, and more from March 15 to April 18, 2021
- Cast Members are preparing Disney California Adventure for “A Touch of Disney”, a ticketed shopping and dining event beginning March 18, by installing additional Plexiglass dividers at the turnstiles for the event
- Orange County, California, has been making headway toward the goal of vaccinating 2 million Californians living in underprivileged communities, a benchmark for making it easier to shift to lower tiers, and if the county can move from the red tier to the orange tier its capacity limit would increase from 15% up to 25%, allowing for nearly 2/3 more guests to enter Disneyland upon reopening
Tokyo Disney Resort
- March 11th marks ten years since the Great East Japan Earthquake, also known as the Tohoku Earthquake, or 3.11 in Japan, and on this anniversary we want to take a look back at how Tokyo Disney Resort stepped up in the country’s time of need
New Merchandise
- A new Vera Bradley collection is now available at Walt Disney World, including several new pink items featuring Minnie Mouse among flowers — perfect for the coming of Spring
- Fans of Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at Disneyland have a few new ways to show their love for the classic watering hole with two new T-shirts and a purse, now available at Downtown Disney District
- Expedition Everest is celebrating 15 years of operation, having had its grand opening at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on April 9, 2006, and in honor of the ride’s 15th birthday, new merchandise is now available in the Expedition Everest gift shop at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- After the latest drop of Limited Edition pins at the Walt Disney World Resort, it’s time for the West Coast to receive some new LE pins, like this Limited Edition Zootopia pin to celebrate the film’s anniversary and the latest addition to the “Where Fantasy Grows” collection at Disneyland Resort
- Collectible keys have been a Disney Store opening ceremony tradition since 2010, even growing in popularity now that they are available on shopDisney as well, and tomorrow morning at 7am, shoppers can add a brand new set of keys inspired by Toy Story 4 to their Imagination Key collection
