Refurbishment work on the Sunglass Hut storefront in Disney Springs has picked up since our construction update a few weeks ago, when progress actually seemed to be going backward.

Golden paneling has been reinstalled in the two archways that are also lined with gold.

New concrete encases the walls around the archways.

Thin lines cutting across the gray also appear to be filed with gold.

New dark blue doorways and windows have been installed. An exit sign glows inside.

From this angle, we could just barely see a glowing neon Ray-Ban sign.

While Sunglass Hut is refurbished, a Sunglass Outfitters truck is available near the Aerophile balloon.

Other Disney Springs News

Coming soon to Disney Springs is Summer House on the Lake. The new West Side restaurant will be across from Pelé Soccer and Salt & Straw. The site was once home to Bongo’s Cuban Cafe, but the old restaurant was completely demolished. Summer House on the Lake was announced in the summer of 2022, taking over the space formerly planned for Beatrix Restaurant. Disney and Lettuce Entertain You had previously announced that Beatrix was merely “on hold,” but it seems they decided not to go forward with that particular project. Lettuce Entertain You is the owner of both Beatrix and Summer House Santa Monica, which are both considered Chicago staples.

Near the Pandora store is a “The Little Mermaid” sand sculpture inspired by the new live-action remake and featuring some of Pandora’s “The Little Mermaid” jewelry collection. The AMC is also decorated for the new film.

This month at Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs, guests can try the new Sea Turtle Cookie. The limited-time cookie is made of premium chocolate, homemade caramel, whole candied pecans, and their signature sea salt. Read our review of the Sea Turtle Cookie.

Disney Springs is also celebrating Pride Month with limited-time decorations this June.

Water taxi service from Disney Springs to nearby hotels was recently suspended due to low water levels.

Corkcicle shop opened in April at Disney Springs. The brand is known for selling colorful insulated drinkware and accessories with products ranging between $29.99 and $49.99. Corkcicle’s product line includes insulated tumblers, water bottles, stemless barware, and coolers that are easily portable.
