EPCOT’s new flagship merchandise location, Creations Shop, is scheduled to open this summer, as is the adjacent Club Cool. There’s still a lot of construction work to be done, however, and it’s already June.
Inside what was once Innoventions West, Communicore-inspired lighting fixtures have been installed in the ceiling.
In this area, which will be home to a new quick-service restaurant, the lights are not yet completed. This will not open this summer.
The steel descending from the roof is to create a shorter ceiling.
Paneling has been removed from much of the roof overhang, and will need to be replaced soon.
The rounded corner of Communicore was recently restored and roofing has since been installed on top of it.
Crew members were working both inside and out to move construction along.
We could see some crew members on the roof.
As has been standard, most of the crew was working on the scaffolding outside the breezeway.
Tarps cover all of Creations Shop’s windows as the interior is completed. The support columns are also being worked on.
New paneling has been installed along the underside of the roof overhang.
On the other side of the building, we can see into the Innoventions West breezeway, which was previously full of scaffolding.
Most of the scaffolding has been removed, as have the tarps, so we can now see inside.
Most of the ceiling in here has been lowered as well.
Some of the crew was working on interior columns.
Exposed wires hung from the ceiling, and several areas are still in need of a paint job.
Nothing seemed different at the new popcorn kiosk.
On the other side of the construction site is the location of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana.
Other than some dirt being moved around, construction here is mostly stagnant. Disney isn’t in a rush to complete the new walkthrough attraction.
