Magic Kingdom
- Yesterday, we reported that two guests (including one that eyewitnesses claimed to be a young adult or minor) were arrested at the Magic Kingdom Monday evening. Now, reports from guests and Cast Members indicate that the two men were confronted by Disney security and local Sheriff’s department officers after stealing from guests’ strollers at the park.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Rachel Zegler, the star of “West Side Story,” shared a photo on Twitter of her parents in front of her dress from the film currently on display at Walt Disney Presents in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- Today’s Q2 earnings report was the first to include results from the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, and CEO Bob Chapek boasted “strong demand” continuing.
- The exterior of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is being refurbished and repainted. The Cozy Cone Pool reopened a month ago, and now refurbishment of the “Cars” area seems to be complete.
New Merchandise
- A Spirit Jersey celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Main Street Electrical Parade has pulled into Walt Disney World.
- A new Minnie ear headband has arrived at the Mexico Pavilion in EPCOT.
- A new water bottle inspired by EPCOT and nighttime spectacular “Harmonious” has arrived at Creations Shop.
- A new limited release MagicBand featuring vintage “Star Wars” action figures has marched into Walt Disney World.
- A new split-building Sketchbook ornament inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean has sailed into Walt Disney World.
- The newest dress by The Dress Shop is inspired by the Dapper Dans of Main Street, U.S.A.
- New “Droid Builders” items have rolled into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disneyland Resort
- May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Disneyland is highlighting some special experiences to celebrate.
- Even more “Star Wars” merchandise arrived at Disneyland Resort this week.
- Following the demolition of the AMC Theater and other businesses on the west side of Downtown Disney District, the land has now been cleared for construction.
- The first weather-proof sheathing has been added to the El CapiTOON Theater façade of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway at Disneyland.
Disneyland Paris
- Disney did not announce an opening date for Avengers Campus at Disneyland Paris during today’s earnings call.
- Disneyland Paris boasted significant growth, reporting $0.9 billion in revenue during the second quarter of 2022
Shanghai Disneyland
- Shanghai Disney Resort closed in March of this year due to a surge of COVID-19 cases and no reopening date has been announced.
Disney Cruise Line
- Disney Cruise Line has extended their Cruise Date Flexibility option to all sailings commencing on or before September 30, 2022.
Entertainment and Media
- Michael Hiltzik has published a column in the Los Angeles Times about Disney continuing to cheat many writers, including those who wrote “Star Wars” novelizations, out of royalties.
Disney+
- Disney+ net 7.9 million new subscribers in Q2 2022, exceeding analysts’ predictions.
- Last year, Disney+ announced a new series titled “Nautilus,” inspired by “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”
The Walt Disney Company
- CEO of The Walt Disney Company Bob Chapek continues to make mistakes and disappoint fans, fueling speculation that he may be removed from his position. Business Insider spoke to ten insiders — including Disney executives, consultants, and board governance experts — about Chapek.
- The Walt Disney Company announced during today’s earnings report that their revenue in the second quarter of 2022 was approximately $19.2 billion.
- Disney Parks, Experiences and Products pulled a revenue of $6.7 billion in the second quarter of 2022.
- During the day, Disney stock ($DIS) had fallen to a new 52-week low of $104.79, but after the market closed and they released their 2022 Q2 earnings report, that number began to rise.
- Disney points to Genie+ and “more favorable guests” as driving factors behind the revenue increase from previous quarters.
- In today’s Q2 2022 earnings report, CEO Bob Chapek praised the domestic Disney Parks for revenue growth and attributed the $4.9 billion revenue to “strong demand with customized and personalized guest experience enhancements,” i.e. Disney Genie+, leading to a 40% rise in per capita spending.
- Chapek has long praised the system to forecast costs and revenue, and stated that alongside the number of guests willing to purchase Genie+ (or Premiere Access for Disneyland Paris), they “don’t need to rely on raising ticket prices” to increase revenue.
- In case there was anyone left wondering after CEO Bob Chapek and Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro have stated that the park pass reservation system is here to stay, Chapek doubled down on his support for the system in today’s Q2 2022 earnings call.
