More Menu Changes Come to Disney Springs After Reopening

Sprinkles Disney Springs Menu Changes

Disney Springs has only been reopened to the public since Wednesday, but two more eateries, Paradiso 37 and Sprinkles, have omitted several items from their menus. Whether these items have been temporarily removed due to supplier issues or other reasons surrounding the health crisis, we don’t know, but below, you’ll find a complete listing of … Read more

REVIEW: Christmas Cupcakes Are A Mixed Bag From Sprinkles At Disney Springs

Sprinkles at Disney Springs is now serving up some festival flavors and, while a previous seasonal offering’s return is welcome, the newest treat might be too sweet for even a sugarplum fairy.

Holiday Gingerbread – $5.25

A returning favorite, this spiced ginger cake topped with cream cheese frosting and dusted with cinnamon sugar is a perfect gingerbread treat. The dense cake gives just the right chewy texture while the flavors play a mild balance to the frosting in a way that other Sprinkles cupcakes miss the mark on, causing them to become overly sweet. The only complaint is that the tiny gingerbread man garnish is so inedible I thought for a moment I wasn’t suppose to eat it at all. This is a very minor complaint for a cupcake that gets so much so right.

Christmas Cookie – $5.25

This consists of vanilla cake mixed with red and green sprinkles and topped with buttercream frosting (with more sprinkles) and a homemade sugar cookie. This cupcake really does taste like the Christmas treat you make at home and smother with frosting, but you have to think through what that actually means – it’s like stacking five sugar cookies on top of each other and taking a bite. It…is…sweet. If you can handle that, you might still be put off by the floury aftertaste it leaves stuck to your gums. Giving credit where credit is due, this certainly accomplishes its goal, but it just might be too much Christmas cheer for anybody.

REVIEW: Sprinkles Pumpkin Pecan Pie Cupcake at Disney Springs

Sprinkles Cupcakes marks the fall season with their Pumpkin Pecan Pie cupcake, a version of their pumpkin flavor with a gooey nut twist, but it proves almost too much of a good thing.

“We took our Pumpkin cupcake, cored it, filled it with our new pecan pie filling, then topped it with our marshmallow cream and gave it a nice hard toast,” states the company and, while the pecan flavors do contrast nicely with the marshmallow frosting, this is most assuredly more of a pumpkin dessert than pecan pie in the flavor department.

The pie filling itself is not overly sweet, but it is messy. When the cupcake was split for review, several nuts simply fell out. Due to this, it’s a cupcake that’s hard to share (as if you wanted to in the first place).

While attempting a complex hybrid of two Autumn standards, this cupcake doesn’t really do either justice and it’s perhaps due to the marshmallow frosting, which feels texturally out of place amongst the rest. Our recommendation is to get the original pumpkin cupcake. Sometimes less is more.

Both the pumpkin and pumpkin pecan pie cupcakes are available through Nov. 30th for $5.25 apiece.

REVIEW: Sprinkles New S’more Cupcake Is Worth Getting Fired Up About

Most people really enjoy the taste of a good s’more by a campfire, but the process can be time consuming and, if not careful, a bit crispy. Sprinkles at Disney Springs has solved this with their limited run S’more Cupcake. The Belgian dark chocolate cake is lined with graham cracker and filled with bittersweet chocolate … Read more

REVIEW: Sprinkles Vodka Infused Cupcake at Disney Springs

Sprinkles Cupcakes at Disney Springs offers a new soft treat made with some hard liquor. The “Tito’s Handmade Vodka American Mule” is available from today until July 22nd. It features a ginger cake frosted with the Texas based distillery’s signature vodka and studded with crystallized ginger. At less than 5% alcohol by volume, it would be quite the task to feel the alcohol impact from this sweet treat, but it is designated by store signage as an adults only cupcake. It rings in at $5.25.

As for the eating experience, the American Mule continues Sprinkles’ tradition of a fluffy cupcake that goes down easily, though the ginger elements overall didn’t stand out as one might hope. When marketing a “cocktail cupcake,” you might expect a bit of punch to the taste, but neither the vodka or ginger hold as much flavor as the lime, which in itself is excellent.

While nobody’s calling a cab after enjoying this limited time cupcake, its a unique treat if you find yourself seeking out a spongy lime-flavor delicacy.
