Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- With preparations already underway in advance of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary this October, work is progressing steadily on Cinderella Castle’s “earidescent” transformation for the occasion
- New railroad track was laid at the Fantasyland station of The Walt Disney World Railroad recently, including a new type of railroad ties, and these new railroad ties can now be seen in Frontierland as well
- Hello from a perfect park weather day at the Magic Kingdom where we came to check out what’s new and what’s good at the most magical place on Earth and bring you this most recent photo report
EPCOT
- We spent a beautiful day with perfect temperatures and clear skies at EPCOT, checking in on some new character topiaries, a new park map and a beautiful sunset, and packaged it all up in this most recent photo report
- While much of the roof has been removed from Innoventions West at EPCOT, work is also continuing on the old Innoventions East buildings as more windows have been installed on the MouseGear portion of the building and the old, abandoned Centorium entrance has finally been destroyed
Disney Springs
- A brand new Sorcerer Mickey LEGO sculpture was installed outside of The LEGO Store at Disney Springs
- A remodeled Disney Vacation Club Kiosk is now open at Disney Springs, and it includes a fun way to tour the newest Disney Vacation Club property — the LEGO model of Disney’s Riviera Resort sits front and center at the newly reopened kiosk
Other Walt Disney World News
- We previously reported that permits were filed for Phase II of the World Drive roadwork that includes the extension and realignment of parts of World Drive, as well as associated ramps and frontage roads, and work is continuing on the project to alleviate traffic congestion around the Magic Kingdom as new ramps connecting World Drive and Bear Island Road are now under construction
- Guests looking to book a Walt Disney World vacation this year may have better luck making Disney park reservations than in months past as the calendar has been replenished to offer park reservations available every day for each park through the end of the year, with the exception of October 1st
- The makeover of the World Drive entrance to Walt Disney World continues in advance of the resort’s 50th anniversary, and where we’ve recently seen the exit side get work done, today we’re seeing the front of the entrance get some attention
- Operating hours at the Magic Kingdom just extended for February 26 and February 27
- As vaccinations continue to expand across the United States, experts are beginning to assess the massive impact the COVID-19 has left on the amusement industry and now IAAPA has released a study on job losses within the industry in the last year, calling on elected officials and policymakers to provide aid and safe reopening guidelines in an attempt to recover from the pandemic
- Walt Disney World park hours have been extended for select dates in February and March
Disneyland Resort
- Beginning March 18, 2021, “rediscover the magic of the Disneyland Resort through the sights, sounds and flavors you’ve been craving” with A Touch of Disney, a new ticketed experience within select outdoor areas of Disney California Adventure Park
Disney Cruise Line
- This morning, Disney Cruise Line released an updated travel alert stating that all Disney Cruise Line sailings will be further suspended through May 2021, and Disney Magic sailings are now suspended through August 10, 2021
Disneyland Paris
- A spokesman from Disneyland Paris states that a brief scene showing Tiger Lily and her Native American tribe has been removed from an informational video that was released about the Peter Pan’s Flight attraction
Hong Kong Disneyland
- With the reopening of Hong Kong Disneyland, guests can catch a glimpse at the construction progress of Arendelle: World of Frozen, and thanks to Disney Magical Kingdom Blog, we now have photos of the Frozen-themed land’s development
New Merchandise
- Minnie’s Style Studio, the newly opened greeting spot for Minnie Mouse at Tokyo Disneyland, is particularly unique in that Minnie’s costume changes for each of the four seasons and with her flowery spring outfit due to be introduced on March 2nd, a small line of themed merchandise will also tie in featuring her new look
- Two new Pandora charms are available at Walt Disney World today — Olu, everyone’s favorite Hawaiian sea turtle (and friend of Duffy), and Mickey Mouse riding the Dumbo attraction
- Serpents and spiders, tails of a rat, there’s a new magnet, we’ll show you where it’s at — there’s a brand new magnet at the Magic Kingdom today, featuring Madame Leota and her crystal ball
- The 2021 Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival will soon be in bloom, and thanks to a helpful gust of wind, we managed to get a sneak peek at the new merchandise that will be featured at this year’s festival
- A brand new tote bag is available at Walt Disney World, and it combines the best of both worlds — Walt Disney World theme park icons meet Starbucks coffee at the World of Disney store at Disney Springs
- As Disney California Adventure ramps of for the A Touch of Disney ticketed event, new merchandise is starting to arrive to the resort including this new pair of Mickey ears celebrating Mickey’s Fun Wheel/PIXAR Pal-A-Round
- Disney nuiMOs releases new plushes on the first Monday of the month, and we expect the newly announced Kermit and Miss Piggy nuiMOs to be available on shopDisney and in Disney Parks on Monday, March 1
Entertainment and Media
- The word is out: the third film in Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man series will be called Spider-Man: No Way Home
Disney+
- There’s a summer of mischief ahead as the release date for Marvel Studios’ “Loki” on Disney+ was announced today, as well as the release dates for “Monsters at Work,” “Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” and more
- Disney has released a trailer for “The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers,” a new series premiering on Disney+ March 26th
WDW News Today
