Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- Today, the Main Street Cinema at Magic Kingdom reopened with a Vault Collection overlay.
- The Adventureland cart is now serving up new 50th Celebration Spring Rolls.
- The Confectionery took over the Chapeau’s space (Curtain Call Collectibles is now offering hat embroidery), and among the elements removed was the “party line” phone.
- Among the snacks available at the just reopened Main Street Confectionery in Magic Kingdom are plenty of cereal treats and we picked up the Mickey cereal treat with Snickers.
- It may be a world of laughter and tears, but lately, at the Magic Kingdom, it’s been a world of color as the repainting of “it’s a small world” continues to press on.
- The sweet smell in the Magic Kingdom means that Main Street Confectionery has reopened its doors, and with it come new desserts and snacks to try; today, we’re seeing how two new cupcakes with classic candy flavors stack up!
- One section of wall at the front of Beast’s castle had yet to be repainted, but crew members are now working on the wall, so refurbishment should be officially completed soon.
- In addition to the 50th anniversary pressed pennies at EPCOT, new penny designs and medallions have arrived at Magic Kingdom for “The World’s Most Magical Celebration”.
- Much of the pavement and stonework in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom was replaced in the spring of this year, and now more stonework is being painted over with a beige color.

EPCOT
- We’re counting down the days to Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, and the celebration has even reached that classic souvenir, the pressed penny.
- Sergio the Italian Juggler, a fan-favorite entertainment staple at EPCOT, is returning on October 1.
- Members of Alberta Bound have announced their return to the Canada Pavilion at EPCOT beginning this Friday, October 1.
- New collectible coins have arrived at EPCOT, showing classic and recent Disney characters with the 50th anniversary logo.
- The pavilion logo flags, some of which were added to the new EPCOT entrance earlier this year, have been updated ahead of the park’s October 1 birthday.
- The “Harmonious” barges in World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT are now showing the 50th anniversary logo on their screens.
- Work continues at Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind since our last update, where most of the pavement in front of the attraction was almost complete.
- All four Walt Disney World theme park icons are transforming to celebrate the 50th anniversary this October 1, but Spaceship Earth debuted its new look as a Beacon of Magic early this evening.
- Today, we’re saying hello to “Harmonious,” the brand-new nighttime spectacular playing on World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Disney has released new images and video from Disney KiteTails, the new daytime show coming to Discovery River Amphitheater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on October 1.
- It seems “Feathered Friends in Flight!” is now permanent, as it finally has its own signage outside the theater.
- Chester and Hester have dressed up their DinoLand U.S.A. shop, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World.
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- A new Mickey Mouse holiday pre-arrival MagicBand is now available to Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests and Annual Passholders.
- 50th anniversary pennies and medallions inspired by Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are now available.
- For the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, a new float has joined the Electrical Water Pageant.
Other Walt Disney World News
- The Walt Disney World Monorail fleet debuted new undercarriage lights for the 50th anniversary celebrations.
Tokyo Disney Resort
- Tokyo Disney Resort is fleshing out the selection of new Club Mouse Beat merchandise a bit more with some fun and creative additions coming October 14.
Disney Cruise Line
- Dining rotations will now be listed on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App rather than printed on the Key to the World cards, as of October 1.
New Merchandise
- A new limited release 50th anniversary pin set will be available exclusively to Disney Movie Insiders starting October 1.
- The Main Street Cinema at the Magic Kingdom also debuted several new 50th Anniversary Vault Collection merchandise items.
- A new Halloween balloon has arrived at Walt Disney World.
- A new purse is now available as part of the Mary Blair-inspired “Alice in Wonderland” 70th anniversary collection.
- New pins have arrived at EPCOT featuring items from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” Winnie the Pooh, Figment, “Oliver & Company” characters, and a Queen of Hearts quote.
Entertainment and Media
- Disney has released a new poster and the first full trailer for “Encanto,” coming to theaters this Thanksgiving.
- Tommy Kirk, who starred in several Disney films as a child in the 1950s and 1960s, has passed away at the age of 79.
Disney+
- Disney announced today that the next Star Wars series, “The Book of Boba Fett” will make its Disney+ debut on December 29, 2021.
The Walt Disney Company
- Disney has now informed Cast Members that their standard discount will not be applicable for any of the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary Vault Collection items.
