Walt Disney World
Magic Kingdom
- Though Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat will remain closed for refurbishment through February, The Rivers of America are now being refilled with water at Magic Kingdom
- Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom has been getting a lot of love lately, with a new attraction sail debuting a few days ago and just today, it seems that the queue received some new plexiglass barriers to help with distancing
- New Plexiglass dividers have also been added to a section of The Haunted Mansion queue at Magic Kingdom
- A few weeks ago, Harper’s Mill on Tom Sawyer Island was in the middle of being completely refurbished with new wood but since then, the building has been completed, including being repainted
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
- Expected this summer, the Harambe Theatre at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will host that fan-favorite troupe of musical storytellers, along with Simba and his friends, in a “celebration” of the incomparable “Festival of the Lion King”
Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
- Walt Disney World has filed a new permit for “general construction” at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which will have limited availability beginning April 2021 as refurbishment begins, and lasts through September
- Join us on a tour of a king room in Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, which reopened in October
- After several weeks of dismantling, the Monorail platform at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has now been completely demolished
Other Walt Disney World News
- In an eminent domain settlement, Florida has agreed to pay $198 million to acquire the Crossroads shopping center near Walt Disney World in order to raze the property to build a new road leading to Walt Disney World as part of the ongoing I-4 Ultimate project
- A Disney Cast Member may have saved the life of a woman suffering from domestic violence earlier this month
- Walt Disney World has filed a notice indicating they will lay off 19 Cast Members on March 20, 2021 though it’s not clear if these Cast Members are part of or in addition to previously announced layoffs

- Anyone can be a Disney Princess with this sparkly new ear hat now available at Walt Disney World
- The Disney Parks Dress Shop dogs and cats dresses we spotted on shopDisney a few days ago are now available at Walt Disney World
- Even at the beach, you can be on Space Mountain with this new towel shaped like the iconic Magic Kingdom attraction, now available at Walt Disney World
- Disney knows that its fans are obsessed with dogs and cats, because they keep releasing more and more merchandise based on our favorite Disney pets and people keep buying it! Today, we found a new double sided puzzle to indulge our addiction.
- There’s a new discount available on shopDisney exclusively for D23 Gold Members — the website is offering a 20% discount to D23 Gold Members on any purchase of $65 or more, valid from January 24th through January 30th
