Work will begin this spring on the overhaul of the Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa lobby.
Grand Floridian Lobby Update Starts This Spring
Disney shared this notice regarding the lobby on the Disney Vacation Club website:
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will be receiving enhancements to select areas in phases, including the lobby and convention center, from April through November 2025. Guests may see and hear construction during daytime hours, and portions of the lobby will be closed at times. All pools and most resort dining and other amenities will remain available. Please allow extra time for travel, as path adjustments may be in place.
It seems the work will begin after the Easter season is over. The lobby is currently decorated with chocolate eggs and The Grand Cottage.
We don’t know exactly how much the lobby will be charged. Original rumors suggested it would be “modernized.”
The Grand Floridian overhaul has been ongoing for several years. Reportedly, now-former CEO Bob Chapek felt that the Grand Floridian was not up to standards when he took over the Disney Parks division of the company in 2015 and he initiated a modernization effort. Changes to the resort began with the Enchanted Rose Lounge in 2019, which replaced Mizner’s Lounge with a “Beauty and the Beast” themed space. Cítricos then got an updated “Mary Poppins”-inspired design.
“Mary Poppins” theming was also added to guest room buildings and rooms themselves were updated. The building exteriors were refurbished though didn’t get significant design changes. The Grand Floridian Spa was remodeled in 2022.
We first reported on the impending lobby update in early 2022. Amid backlash, Disney defended the resort’s transformation. They confirmed the lobby update later that year, initially stating the renovation would be for the resort’s 35th anniversary.
The ongoing renovation will also include an upcoming refurbishment of the lobby, which will maintain the classic theming you know and love with some fresh new enhancements.

The lobby overhaul was delayed, however, and the milestone anniversary came and went with little fanfare in 2023. There was construction in the lobby in 2023, but it was just for work on the upper levels of the resort.

Yet another destruction of a classic place. Let Iger have his own hotel and park to play with, leave ours alone. Look how well the Star Wars hotel turned out. Josh wanted to play Star Wars, when he was tired, he left the corpse of it to rot.
